‘Portraits’ is a collaborative project of Claudio Pogo, Magdalena Wysocka and Jörg Michel of POLA Berlin—Studio for Landscape Architecture. The result of this collaboration is a line of books of which ‘Portrait #1’ is the very first attempt to translate a feel of a landscape into a book form.

’Portrait #1’ is a study of a river bank. The book consist of 20 rocks photographed by Wysocka and Pogo on site. These were offset printed in a precise scale of 1:1, folded into signatures and sewn into book blocks creating abstract and minimal layout. The book invites the viewer to study the textures and surfaces almost as they were viewed through a magnification glass. Each copy comes with a double sided poster of 2 stones in a format of 75 x 55 cm.
